Meng Jia - District 6
Keeping an emotionless face was her only bet right now. Training had worn her out tremendously and now she was forced to put on this stupid dress with equally uncomfortable heels. She wasn’t a pawn to be played in this game. Yet, here Meng Jia was. The performing monkey about to be presented onstage to the masses. Was it wrong that she could care less about all of this?
Getting her signal to go on, she frowned but walked forward into the bright light. Squinting, she stopped as her eyes got use to the lighting. Briefly her mentors words of playing nice more with an audience watching went through her mind over and over. It wasn’t something she wanted to do but he did have a good point. Jia did have to stay alive somehow and the only way possible for that to happen would be to gain sponsors. Damn…
Walking forward again, she greeted the very toothy Caesar with what she hoped was a pleasant smile. After playing to the crowd for Caesar’s account, she took her seat, taking in a deep breath. Here it goes…
“You looked slightly scared to be coming out here Jia dear. I promised I wouldn’t bite, unless that’s your secret weapon that you’re going to use?” What Caesar had said was neither funny nor comical enough to have her laughing but forcing her smile to stay, she shook her head. “No, you’re safe. There are no dagger’s around.”
And how was that funny? She looked to the audience curiously as they laughed at her answer. Jia could do serious damage to each and every one of them. Slit their throats. Stab them in the neck to bleed them out. Was it odd just picturing that made her smile genuinely?
“That’s good to hear. What about your district? District 6. I’ve heard quite a few things are different there than it is here in the Capitol. Have you noticed how much of a difference it is here than it is back at home?” This had truly caught her off guard. A somewhat normal question. Thinking about it, she decided to answer it as honestly as she could.
“There aren’t very many train sounds for me to fall asleep too.” She answered receiving an acknowledging nod from Caesar. “It beats snoring next to someone I suppose.” As usual, he got his little laugh out of his joke but Jia just nodded politely. She didn’t like this man very much.
“Now, if you could recall for me the day of the Reaping. What was it like to know you would represent your district?” The way he leaned forward made Jia sit up a little straighter to keep her personal space. “Frustrating.” She answered a little too truthfully. Deciphering the shocked expression Caesar had, made a small panic go off in Jia. What was it that her mentor said? Smile and nod? Giving her best polite smile, she looked away. “I mean, frustrating because I would have to wait to participate until the training was done.”
She relaxed visibly as the audience murmured their approvals. “Oh so eager are you? I knew you had that fighter’s spirit in you.” Caesar winked at her then which only made Jia want to gag at his gross behavior. Somehow, maybe by a miracle, she managed not to. “Now Jia, I’m sure a young lady as pretty as yourself has someone special back home, correct?
The giggles she could hear from the crowd would have made Jia turn her head and glare but the image of someone special did pop up in her mind. It was the only thing that made her smile the most pleasant it had ever been during that interview. “Just my grandmother.” She missed her terribly. It was hard to even think about her in this moment when she missed the smells and sounds of her home. Hearing that familiar voice, she was brought out of her daze and looked to Caesar with the small smile of her memories lingering.
“If you could see your grandmother again just one more time, what would you say to her, Jia?” It went unaware to her but she played right into his instigation of her emotions. “I would tell her…” Looking out into the crowd, she knew a camera was there. Where? She had no idea but hopefully she was looking in the right direction. “I would tell her not to worry. I’ll be home soon as the victor of these games.”
“Spoken like a true contender.” Caesar beamed at her but it went unnoticed. Jia was now lost in her own world of self-doubt about the games and ever coming back home in one piece. It was the first time she second-guessed herself and she didn’t like it at all. She would have never moved if it wasn’t for Caesar shouting her name and grabbing her wrist to hold up in the air as the crowd cheered her on.
Walking off the stage felt like a dream. The people around her looked so fake and cheery. And the stinging in the back of her eyes just wouldn’t go away. Jia didn’t know what had just happened but frankly she didn’t really care at the moment. All she knew was that she wanted to go home to the life she had before she was picked at that damn Reaping. Keeping a stone face for the rest of her time there, she didn’t dare show any of this to anyone else she encountered. That was something she not only wouldn’t but couldn’t afford to do right now. ‘Stay strong Jia. Stay strong.’ rang her grandmothers last words through her mind over and over like a record she didn’t want to stop playing.
Letting out his laugh now, he felt his comfortable position being disturbed by the laughing he was doing. Oh Jia and her denial of love for him. “I do what I can.” And there she goes again. Always showing off her creepy cat-like nature. He disapproved of anyone who could move that smoothly and gracefully when they weren’t even feline. It just wasn’t natural.
Giving a shrug, he dismissed her questions about being somewhere else. He could be at home but part of his restless spirit came from what laid ahead for tomorrow. Shoving those thoughts out of his mind, he stepped into the shed and closed the door behind him. Heading over to the tiny light, he turned it off not caring for any protests that Jia may have about it and went to the box she had set aside.
Turning to face her, he placed his hands on his hips and smiled at her through the dark. “You wouldn’t say that to me even if you wanted to, you know why?” He asked as he clasped his hands together and raised them to his right cheek to lean into them. Using a perfect aegyo voice that would always get him out of trouble with whatever it may be, he turned it on full power for Jia. “Because you loooove me!”
Not even Kevin could keep a straight face after that. Laughing at himself, he pushed the box back with his foot until he had room to lay down. Taking his jacket off, he threw it near the box before taking his place. “Tonight I’m sleeping here so if you’re going to stay, you have to tell me a bed-time story.”
Smiling up at Jia, it faltered after a moment of thought. “And don’t make it a sad one again! I want to actually sleep peacefully to be fully rested for tomorrow’s events.” Nodding at his words, Kevin turned on his side and gathered his jacket in his arm to cuddle it. Once it was deemed comfy enough, he remained still waiting for Jia to start her story.
With a roll of her eyes she couldn’t be for sure if she wanted to smack Kevin upside the head or if she should have just left him alone. Letting out a small sigh she turned and looked at him for a moment. Jia was never the one for really happy stories let alone the dark for too much longer. As much as it gave her the opportunity to run away but in that same time it gave her the creeps. Glancing in the darkness towards the boy, Jia frowned at him. “What do you think is going to happen tomorrow, like who do you think is going to get picked this year?” Naturally she didn’t want to think about it one bit. Only because it scared her to death but she would rather herself go than anyone else in the District that much had been for sure. Ignoring more into the story half of her mind Jia wanted to be fore sure that Kevin knew how important tomorrow really was for everyone’s safety that had been on her mind the whole time.

Chariot Parade - District 6
As the Chariot began to move forward, it took a moment for District 6 to gain momentum. Once they did, it was quite hard to miss them and their memorizing attire. Both Tributes were dressed in a black and white pattern that played intricately through the entire costume. A large portion of the costume held a steady spiral like pattern that hung off the left side for the female Tribute and the right side of the male Tribute. Each Tribute is also wearing matching leggings that plays up the black and white patterns more so into straight maze like lines. For the female Tribute, she is wearing white high heels with little black flowers that line across the strap in front of the shoe. As for the male Tribute, his shoes are more gladiator-sandal like with black leather up to his ankles shinning in the parade lights to tie it all together.
On closer inspection, the spiral has turned into train tracks symbolizing District 6’s method of transportation that is a crucial connecting point between all districts. The red eyeshadow that extends on both Tributes can be seen as a symbol of strength for a brighter future ahead for the Capitol. The red eyeshadow leads off into their hair accessories of three train wheels lining the side of their heads in the hair. Each time they turn to wave to the adoring crowd, the rods on the wheels move to give the appearance of motion, as in moving forward with the Capitol in continuing with their prosperity.
The Female Tributes fiery orange hair matches well with the dramatic red makeup as it appears to be teased but pulled back into a braided bun. Her hair style, while it looks very effortless, is a perfect example of fierce elegance. The male Tributes blondish-brown hair appears to have taken the same approach as his counterparts in the teased and tousled area that looks to be an ideal mix of tamed bed-head chic.
Reaching the half way point, the male Tribute of District 6, Kevin Woo, felt his arm getting tired. He had been waving to the crowd of on-lookers and smiling a very cute - almost painfully cute - aegyo smile. According to their mentors, this was exactly what the crowd wanted. A show. That was exactly what he was giving them. Plus it didn’t hurt that he was rather good at aegyo. Putting his fear, hatred, and anxiety away, he pretended like none of that mattered. And it didn’t. Not when his life could potentially be put on the line. It was a good thing he was such trader. He could easily adapt to each situation as it arose which was handy, now more than ever.
As for the female Tribute of District 6, Meng Jia, she was behaving quite the opposite. She had been so shocked by all of the people and their cheers that it took her a moment to get her sense of hearing back. Once it regretfully came back in full force, she stared back at everyone with a straight face as something hot and bold built up in her. Hatred. And lots of it. How could these people just sit there and enjoy all of this? It was truly sickening to her. Looking at their smiling faces, she wanted to get off the chariot right then and there. She wanted to be back home with her grandmother and her nice comfortable room. She wanted to wipe those stupid grins off the crowds faces and punch their giggles out of them until it turned into remorse. She wanted-
Receiving a nudge, Jia had turned her head to the only occupant in their chariot. Kevin had noticed and sensed Jia’s bad vibe that he could hardly miss being so close to her. He actually liked her as a person though so he had to do this for both of their sakes. In the middle of smiling and waving, he leaned in closer to Jia. Through his teeth, he tried his best to speak to her without moving his lips too much. He still had to smile after all. “Wave and smile at them, babo.” Spotting a rather oddly dressed woman in lime green, he winked and blew her a kiss before glancing over at Jia. It seemed he needed to be forceful with her.
Wrapping an arm around her waist, he pulled her closer to him and laughed as if this was the most fun he had ever had in his life. Once she was close enough, he leaned his head towards her in a sweet-sort of gesture. “Follow my lead. It’s almost over.” He whispered in a hurry. Returning to the crowd, he gave a victory sign next to his eyes while giving his best aegyo smile. Waving with his other hand towards the crowd, he continued with this routine all the way to their circular stop.
Jia, still being uncertain in her movements, felt her hatred simmer as Kevin’s words took their effect. She watched him giving his aegyo and could have sworn the thin line her lips were in, cracked into an almost smile. He was such a ham for attention but he did have a point. It was almost over. Spying their stop coming up, Jia took in a deep breath. Looking to her side of the crowd, she had to force the corners of her lips upwards. Her hand started to rise and her motions were small as she got use to waving. Soon enough, her hand felt light as a feather being raised above her head. The smile was still being forced to stay where it was but the waving seemed to make up for all of that.
Reaching the circular area came faster than she had anticipated. As their chariot pulled into a stop, Jia let out the breath she had no idea she was holding in. Looking over at Kevin, she smiled back at him and for the first time that night, felt like it wasn’t really all that forced now. “Thanks.” she mumbled and looked ahead waiting for the other Tributes to join them. Jia had completely missed the satisfied nod and wink that Kevin had threw her way before he too turned to face President Snow on the balcony above.
